A Myanmar Dish

 Edit Post
Last summer, I volunteered at IGSL (International Graduate School of Leadership) and got to meet Ate Ahsie.

She was teaching the wives of the IGSL students Bible Study Methods. During the last day, we had a celebration and Ate Ahsie taught me how to cook a Myanmar dish. Since then, I've cooked it several times at home, but it's still not the way Ate Ahsie does it! :)

Ingredients are chicken, tomato, garlic, chili, and turmeric powder.

 Clean the chicken.

 Dice the tomatoes.

Cut and crush the garlic.

Put enough oil to cover the bottom of the saucepan. Put in the chili first so the oil becomes spicy. Add the garlic next. When it is golden brown, add a dash of turmeric powder. Cook the tomatoes next and let the juice evaporate a little. The chicken is placed in last. Add a little salt. Optional: Carrots and potatoes.

What a great project, Alyssa. You have a lot of neat information posted. Remember when we memorized the geography song for South East Asia together..."In South East Asia there is Malaysia, Laos and Burma and Kampuchea...wow, its really changed since then!
We rode elephants to visit a Lisu tribal village near Chang Mai, Thailand. They were a displaced people and didn't have citizenship in any country.
Some of our friends are doing mission work in East Timor and we know an ABWE couple in Laos. They were in our candidate class in 1985.
Keep up the good work!

Hi Tita Kelly! Yes, I sure remember the geography song for Southeast Asia. In fact, that helped me a lot when I reported about the ASEAN.

Wow, thanks for the information about Thailand. I'll look that up and probably write about it. :)

Thanks for visiting my blog! :)
